Following the previous article, I will show you some frequently used abstract-dependent nouns. It is hard to find an English word that exactly corresponds to each noun below. I recommend you understand the meaning of each noun, with an English translation for reference only.

 

refers to an ability to do something, or the possibility that something will happen

 

일을 하다 보면 그럴 수도 있지.

Things can happen when you do your work.

 

걱정하지 마. 넌 할 수 있어.

Don't worry. You can do it.

 

 

 

refers to a method, or a hidden intention of someone

 

미안하지만 그것은 나도 할 줄 몰라.

Sorry, but I don't know how to do it either.

 

네가 나를 속일 은 몰랐다.

I never dreamed of you fooling me.

 

 

 

 

refers that someone's just doing something.

 

그는 웃고만 있을 이었다.

He did nothing but smile.

 

그저 운이 좋았을 이야.

I was lucky. That's all.
